Outside of personal grooming, Rookshade doesn't take much stock into his features. He really doesn't care if he's handsome or not, and won't take care to not receive scars or nicks during his lifetime. He cares enough to make sure he's presentable to his Clan, representing them effectively to others. A bit fluffier than most MoorClan cats, he's lean of body and muscle. Mostly black with white, his eyes are a deep hazel. He has a pink nose and a few nicks in his ears but otherwise he's mostly unscathed. As stated, he has long fur.

Rookshade can be described as reserved. He merely goes with the flow, whatever that happens to be, without much fuss attached. He leaves the decisions to his Clan’s higher positions, simply content to not be bothered with responsibility. As such, he has been passed over as a mentor a few times. He doesn’t seem to want to bother with other cats, and the truth is he’s quiet because he’s awkward. Stumbling over his words and doing a lot of “er”s to begin a sentence… Sometimes he questions his own decisions and defers to another's opinion.
He’s not a talkative cat. He lets others do the talking and only butts in when he has a strong opinion about something. His opinions are strong, often a bit curt and unrelenting. The tom can be stubborn and unyielding, a good trait for a loyal warrior. If only that were so. His horizons aren’t explored, and he is ignorant of what the future can bring him. For now, he is loyal to MoorClan. Things may change in time, especially from exposure from other clans. He may not be friendly but he’s universally unfriendly.
Rook-kit was born in MoorClan to two MoorClan cats. His humble beginnings included him having no siblings to occupy his time. He spent most of his time with his mother, Morningshine, and learning from his father, Stoneface. Never an excitable kit, Rook-kit knew how to be patient. He would watch and wait for his turn, but mostly he enjoyed learning by himself on his own time. He was the studious type, hating needless chatter and concentrated fully on his task. He was always going to be a logical and quiet fellow.
A cat named Redclaw was to be his mentor, and Rookpaw clashed horribly with the tom. Redclaw was a brute – in the apprentice’s opinion – whose only aim was to fight his way in situations. Though proper fight training was given to Rookpaw, he always preferred to hunt. His mentor was disappointed and critical of him but luckily other cats could help pick up the slack. He would often go ask the senior warriors for tips on how to track, learning as he went along. In his own way and on his own time.
To be frank, not a lot happened during his apprenticeship. He was a dutiful young cat who did as he was told, and some others his age thought that was boring. He was often left out on adventures, having none of the starry-eyed optimism others had. He didn’t take risks. He was content to just finish his training and move on. Rookpaw was frank, to the point and blunt. Some cats didn’t appreciate that. Due to this, he had little friends. It didn’t help he saw other apprentices as potential rivals. He would always strive to do his best, leading the tom to be very stressed out and if he failed, he would be very hard on himself.
In the end, he was given the name of Rookshade for what the Clan perceived to be a quiet, albeit skilled individual. Some expected great things from him. Especially his parents. He wanted to make MoorClan strong in his own way, but didn’t want to fight needless battles to get there. Some called him a pacifist, but Rookshade needed a reason to draw blood. When push came to shove, he would indeed protect his Clan from invading forces. But not really close to his community, the tom tends to stand out among the "happier" and established folk.
In reality, he is akin to a mother hen. Always watching, always waiting for a chance to assist his Clanmates. He wants to be useful. He just doesn't know how to be outside of typical warrior duties. Struggling with himself, Rookshade cannot hope to butt into the life of another cat.
