[attr="class","banditt3"]JESTER
[attr="class","banditt2"] Things of comfort were of no importance to them. Some liked to line their next with pretty feathers and pebbles, surrounding themselves with sweet smelling flowers that wafted through the air. Some - like the queens of the band - chose the life of comfort and ease. Silly as it was to think, there were some that opted to live their lives passively, letting each moment pass them by or worse, avoiding the darkness of the world. Jester had seen many bury their heads in the sand obliviously to the world around them, determined to keep out the noise.

They, however, chose the opposite lifestyle. The idea of living idly, waiting for the bad to pass them by was purposterous. Well, maybe that was because they were the bad. At least, their companions were. By contrast, Jester wasn't much of anything. A chaotic neutral at best. Encouraging the chaos, reveling in it, but never taking the first steps themselves.

This afternoon had dragged on for far too long and despite the determination to hurry it along by knocking out their responsibilities to the band, the sun still hung high in the sky, threatening many hours of the day to go. The warmth, while welcomed, was a silent reminder that they had to continue to push the others to continue working. The task now? Nest building.

And by the gods, they didn't realize that there was so much that the young fillies would fill their time with in such a menial task. Their own nest made of rough moss that had dried in the sun for hours was enough - all they required. But the youngest she-cats were tucking pretty shells and feathers into the edges, boasting about how their mate found it for them and that they were so excited to have kits of their own. There was a sickening sweetness about the idea. One that Jester only minutely agreed with. The prospect of sweet little bundles of fur warmed their cold heart but they passed the thought with little entertainment. Things were required for kits - things they didn't dare give anyone.

"Hurry along." They snapped as the last two doted over the arrangement of feathers that made their nest look less like a bed and more like a bird. "You're needed hunting."

And once the charges left them be, the calico slumped onto the snowy ground, shivering against the cold but sighing contently. They were free for awhile, and now, they just had to decide what they'd do with such freedom.

ECHO
Duties were always something Echo attended to swiftly and efficiently, whether or not they seemed the sort. They were insistent upon getting things done to Joker's liking, and they cared little for those they deigned to step in their way. After all, they had about as much blood on their paws from those who dared cross the lines as Joker themself, and in truth it was something Echo was proud of.

However, for the moment, they had earned a blink of free time.

Though when it came to Echo, free time was hardly spent away from their duties all the same. They simply turned their focus toward their own preference, which was looking over their primary charge. There was little they would not do for Jester, in truth, and undoubtedly they knew that. No that Echo cared. For all it mattered to them, they were there for Jester and Joker to take advantage of, so long as they got to have a little fun in matters as well. They were content with their position, for now. Let the siblings do as they so wished.

Just as it was easy for Jester to get what they wished from Echo, it was easy for the red-furred feline to find their precious charge. There were few places anyone could hide from them, and they were most adept at finding the younger calico. So it was no surprise as the tittering mollies pattered off, shying around Echo as they went, that the masculine feline strolled easily toward where the calico lay, no hesitance in approaching at all.

"Not a fan of feathers?" the observed, amusement flickering through their gaze. Without so much as a shudder, they settled down upon the snow in turn, catching a stray feather beneath one snowy paw to muse over, before snagging it in their claws. "I always figured birds were better for eating than decorating, though I suppose everyone needs a hobby."

"Let's put a smile on that face..."
Hmmmm, a slow day. The sun was still high in the sky and yet it seemed they had already accomplished their goals. For the moment. There were always cats to drag back into line or toss into the cold, of course, but no true troublemakers after the last... eviction. A prowl among the different groups had confirmed that the rather brutal process had reminded everyone to keep their mouths shut and follow the rules that had been set in place long before any of them had joined the band.

Tail flicking in annoyance, Joker entered the Hideout to find it in its usual chaos. Broken feathers dotted the snowy ground. Jester must have enforced nest building. Just the thought of their dear little sibling brightened their dipping mood. It truly was gratifying to watch their hard work in raising Jester pay off in keeping the commoners organized. Such a thing was tedious to Joker; they much preferred alternating between the muscles and the guard, or even keeping an ear out for clan news.

The calico hummed idly to themself as they wove between the structures of the Hideout to find Jester, spotting them easily by Echo's direct path. Their appearance was marked less by their quiet steps and more by their voice as they overheard the tabby's statement. "So long as they are productive, I suppose." A feather of their own was dragged over to examine for a quick glance before their gaze raised to land on Jester. "Everything alright? Any trouble, for either of you?" Most wouldn't have a soft note of eagerness when asking about trouble, but Joker was always an exception. Echo and Jester were more than capable of tending to it themselves, of course.

Joker just loved getting their paws dirty.

[attr="class","banditt3"]JESTER
[attr="class","banditt2"] Just as Jester thought that they’d move to their nest and consider getting at small mid-day nap before their charges returned from the hunt, they were joined by a golden tabby. One whom they’d come to consider a friend over the moons - a feat if there ever was one. It was seldom that Jester looked at anyone without at least a little distain and for moons the only one who earned that position had been their older sibling, Joker. Having been raised by a darkness like Joker, there was little surprise that the calico was rough around the edges.

The tabby’s question of feather’s made the calico glance toward the nests decorated in pebbles and shells and feathers before shaking their head with disinterest. Their voice was softer and higher than the tabby’s, but there was still a coldness in their words. “Considering all it takes to buy their hearts are pretty stones and feathers, I think I’ll pass. I prefer my nest to be used for sleeping, not showcasing my price.” It was a bit crude to look at it that way, but being raised by a sibling who had little patience for the finer things, they developed a lot of the same thoughts. Why waste time decorating a mass of moss that you only sleep for a few hours each night - especially in the middle of winter where time should have been spent finding food and sparring.

Done with your duties so soon? The feline asked as they stretched themselves into the cold snow beneath them. Fighting a shiver, they turned their head at the sound of another familiar voice and a smile pulled at the corner of their lips at the sight of their sibling. “Everything is fine. The kitless queens are out hunting and the entrance to the hideout reinforced. The calico relayed, though made no effort to rise from where they laid in the snow.

ECHO
Echo barely blinked at the crudeness of Jester's viewpoint, far from surprised as they often were. They had gotten well used to each other, after all - it was rare that they caught each other off guard in simple conversation. Still, the tabby cast their gaze after Jester's to peruse the nests in question, before flitting to the bare one they could have known was theirs even without it being the odd one out in terms of decoration.

"A barren nest merely tells everyone what they already ought to know," the mused idly, gaze wandering back to Jester's with just as much calm and observation as one merely speaking of the clouds or a mundane hunt. "That no price could ever be worthy of you." There was no flirtation to the words, nor to their admittedly appreciative - and perhaps mildly possessive - gaze. It was simply stated as the fact Echo knew it to be, and one they would easily repeat to anyone who sought to think differently.

Jester's heart was not a thing to every be bought, a fact Echo would willingly enforce upon any doubters.

The calico's question was not something that set Echo off either, merely causing a flick of an ear as their snow-ringed tail re-positioned atop their hind leg in one smooth motion. "You know me," they responded simply, a telling gleam in their eyes. Echo was few things if not efficient - the only thing that overpowered the efficiency with which they saw their duties done and rules enforced overpowered only by their loyalty to the feline's at the head of the group, and their willingness to drop most anything for them if required. Especially Jester, but the calico undoubtedly knew that. So, adding anything more to their statement was pointless, and they tended not to do pointless things if they could evade it.

Joker arrived soon enough as it was, and any thought to add needlessly to their reply was overwritten by the instinct to greet who was essentially their master. "Joker," the name was offered in something between a purr and a pleased hum as they turned their attention swiftly to the older of the siblings without fail, even as one ear remained obediently angled toward their younger charge. "Sorry to disappoint, but nothing I could not handle easily."

As though responding to what they knew to be Joker's unspoken desire when the question was asked, the tabby rose a pristinely snowy paw for the observation of both Echo themself and Joker. Their expression as they gazed upon it flickered to a chaotic and unbalanced mix somewhere between approval and dissatisfaction at the sight of its bloodless state, before they lowered it and peered back up toward their leader. Ever the sadist, calmer days were frankly...boring.

"Let's put a smile on that face..."
Joker was not as fond of the snow as Jester, but they still settled into a bit of a sprawled sit as they were answered. The feather they had caught was idly dragged across the pristine white surface and frayed by their extended claws. Jester, of course, did not disappoint them, reporting on the progress of the day. It was always good to hear that the more... Common members of the band were pulling their weight and not just benefiting from the hard work of others.

To Echo, they hummed in disappointment but nodded once. Yet again, the orange tabby was proving they had made the right decision so many years ago to put them as a chief. "And Drift? Has anyone seen him yet today?" Joker themself hadn't caught sight of their other chief, but it wasn't uncommon for them to unknowingly circle someone they were looking for. The Hideout may be small in and of itself, but the territory the band "claimed" was large. The idiotic little Clan cats could never catch the smart ones, after all, and those dumb enough to be caught or killed deserved whatever happened to them.

Posture suddenly straightening, they abandoned the feather they had mutilated and gazed intently at Jester. "Jester, dear, have we heard any gossip about the clans lately, or do we need to make a trip to Majesty?" The she-cat was only known to them through word of mouth from others. A leader in her own right of her own little group, apparently Majesty was well known among the clan cats. Her reputation as a trader of any and everything had always interested Joker but they hadn't ever found an excuse to go and... visit. Though now that the thought had crossed their mind, they found themself stumped on what to offer in exchange for information.
